Veterans Day
Rossview High School’s JROTC hosted their Veterans Day Program on November 7, 2008.
They commemorated American Veterans, both alive and lost. A Special Tribute Video was presented,
along with a poem, music from the band, and the speeches from three people who
were touched by the military. Two were students in the school: Harlin Miller and Kristen Casica.
The third was a veteran: CW2 Rene Llanos. After the speeches, JROTC performed
the Missing Veterans Presentation, and their varsity color guard presented the colors.
To conclude the ceremony, the guest speaker, CW2 Llanos, was awarded a gift from JROTC
for attending the ceremony. And the next day was the Veterans Day Parade where RHS marched with the other schools.

Fall Promotions/Grog Bowl Ceremony
The Hawk Battalion gathered at the end of October for their annual
promotions and ceremony. They were cycled through the promotion line to
receive the credit they deserve, and afterwards, the staff and command added their
own individual ingredients to the grog for the cadets to enjoy with their pizza. After a little
mingling, they moved on to the pie throw where the underclassmen were allowed
to show their appreciation for their staff's hard work.

Domestic Violence Awareness Program
In mid-September, Fifteen cadets were requested specifically from
Rossview High School based on prior performances to help with the
Community Awareness Day at Draughons Junior College. The cadets performed
proficiently, and the day was a complete success.

Homecoming
The school celebrated the start of another year.
Each day of the week, students dressed up
in crazy costumes, and the different classes competed to be the best.
At the end of the week, there was a parade and a game, during which the sweethearts
were presented, including our own Battalion Commander,
C/LTC Annessa Motes

Women Veterans of America
The WVA asked for the RHS varsity color guard to post the colors
at their meeting in mid-September of 2008 after seeing them
marching in the Veterans' Day Parade the year prior. A bugler from
Rossview High School was also requested to perform taps. They were very thankful for
the battalion's appearance.

Back to School BBQ
In mid-August the cadets gathered to have a blast and
socialize at the Back to School BBQ. They had fun
climbing the rock wall and throwing footballs with other cadets, and
returning cadets socialized with the new Let 1's, creating new ties in the program.

The Hawk Battalion goes to Summer Camp
At the beginning of June, select cadets participated in Summer Camp at Wendel Ford
These cadets were put through a week of rigorous exercise and team building activities
which tested how well they functioned as a team. They also had many opportunities
to learn their own capabilities during activities like rappelling, which tested their bravery and perseverance,
or the obstacle course, which allowed them a chance to work together and think outside the box.
