SECTION 12
INSPECTIONS

12.1     Inspections will be conducted throughout the school year to ensure that high standards of personal appearance are maintained and to ascertain the condition of uniforms and equipment.  As a minimum, the Cadet Battalion Commander will conduct a full battalion inspection, either before or after school or during advisory, once each semester.

12.2     Routine inspections will be conducted as shown on the weekly training schedules.  These will normally be inspections in ranks.  Such inspections constitute a portion of the class hours prescribed by the Army Training Program for Leadership Development and Drill.

12.3     Representatives of the school district or Cadet Command may make periodic inspections and/or staff visits.

12.4     Designated headquarters and staffs will conduct annual formal inspections during the springtime of the school year.  The annual formal inspection determines the overall ranking of each JROTC Battalion in CMCSS in terms of compliance with published standards in the appropriate manuals.  Therefore, it is imperative that cadets maintain the highest standards of conduct, appearance, and JROTC subject matter knowledge.  If the organization strives for excellence daily, there is no requirement to panic and prepare for an outside inspection.  To prepare for the annual formal inspection, the SAI/AI and Cadet Battalion Commander/Command Sergeant Major will conduct similar inspections during the school year.  For detailed information on inspections consult Cadet Command Regulation 145-8 and the Red River Brigade JROTC standing operating procedures.

12.5     Army personnel from Cadet Command Regional Headquarters or Brigade will conduct a Formal inspection every three years.  The goal for a Formal Inspection is to score sufficient points to earn the title, “Honor Unit with Distinction” a score of 580 or above is required for such an award.  Special effort will be made to ensure that the highest possible standards of conduct, appearance, and department are established for this inspection.  In preparation for the Federal Inspection, the SAI, AI and the Cadet Battalion Commander will conduct similar inspections during the school year and conduct rehearsals prior to actual inspection as required before and after school.  For detailed information on inspections consult Cadet Command Regulation 145-8 and Red River Brigade JROTC standing operating procedures.
