CADET ENROLLMENT
3.1 Qualifications for enrollment. JROTC students must be enrolled as a full-time student in the 9th grade or above and be morally qualified. Applicants for enrollment who have a record of conviction by civil or military court, for other than minor traffic violations, are not eligible for enrollment in JROTC, unless a waiver is granted by appropriate Army authority or the Principal.
3.2 Enrollment. Student enrollment at the beginning of a school year is accomplished with the understanding that both semesters will be completed. One-half credit may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of one semester. Qualified students will normally be enrolled as cadets in the following leadership, education, and training (LET) classes:

3.3 Enrollment Documents. Each Cadet enrolled in the JROTC program will ensure that the below listed forms/documents are provided to the SAI/AI. These documents provide the appropriate guidance and information to parents and guardians as to course expectations.
3.3.1 Parental Approval. This form provides the parental or guardian approval to participate in JROTC activities and programs. This form informs parents and guardians that the US Army and CMCSS are not liable for accidents incurred by cadets. Parents/guardians accept full responsibility for issued uniforms and equipment. This form provides information concerning the health/physical limitations prohibiting full participation in the program.
3.3.2 Statement of Understanding. This form informs cadets, parents/guardians that the clothing issued to each cadet will not be cut, tapered, tailored, or modified in any manner other than that required for hemming as directed by the AI/SAI.
3.3.3 Cadet Challenge and Physical Training. This form provides parental or guardian consent to participate in physical activities associated with the Cadet Challenge program and weekly Physical Training (PT).
3.3.4 Media Release Form. This form grants permission for cadet photographs, interviews, or other media to be used for public view without any financial remuneration.
3.4 Qualification for Disenrollment. At the discretion of the SAI, and approval of the Principal, a cadet will be disenrolled or excluded from attendance as appropriate for the following:

- Becomes physically unable to perform the activities required of JROTC cadets.
3.5 Recruiting
3.5.1 Feeder School Recruiting. Recruiting for enrollment into the Rossview High School Junior ROTC Program begins during the spring of each school year. Cadets will meet with prospective 8th grade students from Rossview Middle School. The Hawk Battalion will demonstrate cadet competence in as many activities and functions as possible so as to attract a diverse talent of students to maintain the minimum acceptable enrollment.
3.5.2 Rossview High School Recruiting. Recruiting for enrollment into the Rossview High School Junior ROTC program is a year round activity. Instructors will work with guidance counselors and teachers to determine those students with the potential to benefit from JROTC material and instruction.
3.5.2.1 School Registration. During registration for enrollment in the summer, instructors and cadets will be present, in uniform, and will demonstrate cadet competence in as many activities and functions as possible so as to attract a diverse talent of students. Demonstrations involving the Drill Team, Raiders (Physical Fitness Team), and Color Guard could be used during this phase of recruiting.
3.5.2.2 Freshman Orientation. During Freshman Orientation, instructors and cadets will be present, in uniform, and will demonstrate cadet competence in as many activities and functions as possible so as to attract a diverse talent of students. Skits involving the Drill Team, Raiders (Physical Fitness Team), and Color Guard could be used during this phase of recruiting. Freshman Orientation will normally occur in the Fall Semester.
3.5.2.3 School Counselors. School Counselors will assist the SAI/AI in maintaining the requisite balance of students within the JROTC program. The primary desire is to maintain sufficient student enrollment to maintain the JROTC program with two instructors.
3.5.3 Cadet Recruiting Ribbon. Currently enrolled cadets are the best source of recruitment for the Rossview High School JROTC program. Cadets are encouraged to recruit friends, relatives, and acquaintances for enrollment into the program. Those cadets that recruit other students into the JROTC Program will earn the Cadet Recruiting Ribbon in accordance with the standards set forth in this SOP in Section 14.
Recruiting Goals. Our goal is to attract 60 new cadets each Fall Semester and to retain 50% of currently enrolled 1st year cadets.
